Back on Track Program

The "Back on Track" Program is Ontario's remedial measures program for impaired drivers. The program provides information and professional guidance to people who have been charged of operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or other drugs.

You need to register in the program if one of the following applies to you:

A person who has had a “warn range” suspension of their driver’s license more than once in a five-year period. A warn range suspension is for drivers who are found to have a blood alcohol content ranging from .05 to .08 per cent.
A person convicted of an impaired driving offence who wishes to have their driver’s license reinstated when the suspension period ends. This includes first-time offenders who qualify for the Reduced Suspension with Ignition Interlock Conduct Review Program.

To get your license after an impaired driving conviction, a person must:

Complete the of "Back on Track" Program;
Pay any outstanding fees, fines or penalties;
Wait for any suspension periods to end;
Arrange for installation of an ignition interlock device in your vehicle.

Once registered, participating in the "Back on Track" program can take up to 11 months for an impaired driving conviction or up to 90 days for a warn range suspension.
